Tapestry weaver Frances Crowe draws inspiration from nature and the rhythms of the natural world. From her Midlands retreat, she reflects on ways to reuse and renew materials. Increasingly, she gravitates toward fibres that are gentle on the earth and suggest regeneration. Crowe creates handwoven wall hangings that speak through their own textures and forms. Working with traditional weaving techniques she often infuses them with a contemporary sensibility. Her approach is intuitive: she engages with the fibres directly, responding to their tactile qualities and allowing each piece to evolve naturally.
