Yulia Tishchenko is a Ukrainian contemporary textile artist based in France. Working primarily with handwoven tapestry, she explores fiber as a living artistic language, where material, texture and rhythm become active participants in the creative process.
Rather than following a predetermined image, each work begins with only a few guiding lines and an intuitive sense of direction. As the tapestry evolves, color, structure and texture emerge through a continuous dialogue with the material itself. Every decision responds to the previous one, allowing the work to develop organically and often leading to unexpected outcomes.
Through this intuitive approach, Yulia creates one-of-a-kind textile works that reflect the complexity of human experience. Her tapestries are not illustrations of specific stories, but tactile spaces where emotion, memory and inner states gradually take shape through fiber, inviting viewers to slow down, observe and discover their own meanings within the work.
