Kristina Austi (born in Klaipėda, Lithuania) is a Norway-based artist working primarily with digital Jacquard weaving. Her practice centres on a deep curiosity about the woven surface—its material presence, visual language, and structural complexity. Drawing on both traditional craftsmanship and digital technology, Austi explores how anything digitised can become woven, turning data into textiles.

In recent years, she has expanded her practice by incorporating artificial intelligence. Rather than using verbal prompts, she "trains" the AI with her woven surfaces and motifs, cultivating a visual vocabulary that reflects the logic and texture of weaving. The resulting imagery is then translated back into woven form, forming a recursive dialogue between technology and material.

Austi has also been active in education, having taught textile art at the University of Bergen and maintaining long-term collaborations with the textile industry in Western Norway. She is a co-founder of VEVFT, an artist-run initiative dedicated to developing a professional environment for digital weaving in Norway. Through this work, she has contributed significantly to a new generation of artists in Norway who are discovering and adopting the medium.

Her works have been shown in numerous international exhibitions, including the Textile Triennials in Riga (Latvia) and Łódź (Poland), the Textile Biennials in Rijswijk (Netherlands), Vilnius (Lithuania), and Guimarães (Portugal), and exhibitions in the USA, the Netherlands, Denmark, Belgium, Sweden and Norway.
