Oksana Levchenya (Konstantinovska) is a Ukrainian artist and designer based in Kyiv, where she lives and works in her studio. She is the founder and creative force behind OLK MANUFACTORY, a workshop dedicated to producing hand-woven rugs and tapestries that fuse traditional craftsmanship with a contemporary artistic vision.
Levchenya’s work reimagines the Ukrainian kilim through a modern lens. Drawing from folk motifs, and abstract compositions, she creates original designs that are translated into richly tactile textiles. The majority of OLK MANUFACTORY’s pieces are based on her distinctive sketches.
Under her leadership, the workshop preserves and revitalizes the heritage of vertical kilim weaving—a meticulous handcraft that dates back to the 16th century. Every stage of production, from initial design and yarn dyeing to weaving and finishing, is carried out under her artistic supervision.
A firm advocate for ethical and sustainable practices, Levchenya ensures that each kilim is crafted entirely by hand using natural materials such as hemp and hand-dyed wool. She is also committed to fair compensation for the skilled artisans who contribute to the work.
Through her practice, Oksana Levchenya not only safeguards a centuries-old weaving tradition but also reinterprets it, giving it renewed relevance and resonance in the field of contemporary design.
