Renata Daina is a textile artist and weaver working in Los Angeles and Sydney. Her sculpture and tapestry work draws from the earthly and otherworldly. She creates tactile abstractions utilizing labor-intensive techniques such as hand weaving, rope coiling, knotting, stitching, dyeing. Handwoven textiles and repurposed fabrics move fluidly between surface textures and multi-dimensional structures delineating our physical and spiritual entanglement in an increasingly fragile ecosystem.
Renata Daina learned traditional Lithuanian textile crafts from her grandmother, and is a fifth-generation weaver. She received a BFA with Honors Cum Laude from the University of Southern California, and studied Fashion & Textile Design at the University of Technology Sydney. Her work is in public and private collections internationally, having been commissioned by galleries, luxury hotels, apartments, and art consulting firms. Daina was a Fiber Artist in Residence at Township10, and has exhibited work in Australia, Europe, and the United States.
